The True Node highlights certain degrees of the zodiac when it plateaus in its serpentine movement backward through the zodiac. Having given this information about the astronomy of the Lunar Nodes, now we may have a look at the astrology of the nodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Node is known as Rahu or Dragon\u2019s Head and South Node is known as Ketu or Dragon\u2019s Tail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we start from South Node, it might symbolise history, the past, ancestors, skills that might have been inherited, it may be a place of comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we look at the North Node, there is a sense that we would like to move forward leaving that comfort zone behind but probably putting the learnings in our pocket not to get lost where we are heading to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a way, when we talk about the Nodal Axis, we are referring to our life journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In \u2018Mapping the Psyche\u2019 Volume 2, Clare Martin tells us something very important about the Nodal axis which is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026So, without the nodal axis we lose our direction and we lose our soul\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this regard, in a natal chart, the Nodal Axis (North Node and South Node will be positioned in opposite signs) might show our evolutionary path, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we interpret them, we need to look at the signs of the nodes and will be able to make an interpretation based on the planetary rulers of these signs. Also, the houses the nodes are in would give us more guidance in our interpretations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As in the case of planets, we need to see the interaction of the Nodal axis with the rest of the chart which might give us more information about our life journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coming now to the shift of the Nodes\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the North Node will be shifting from Taurus to Aries, the South Node will be shifting from Scorpio to Libra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is worth mentioning that last time North Node moved through (backwards) Aries and South Node moved through Libra was back in 2004. To be exact, Mean node was between 30\/11\/2004 and 19\/06\/2006 and True node was between 26\/12\/2004 and 22\/06\/2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is good to look at the houses of the nodes were transiting in that period to have a sense of how our life journey was impacted that time and what clues it may give about the current impact. Although we need to keep other planetary movements going on in the sky in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThere is another interesting quote from Clare Martin\u2019s book:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Aries-Libra polarity concerns the relationship between independence and compromise\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This might be the theme in terms of nodes in the upcoming 18-19 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Having said all, when we think about the transiting North Node and South Node, we might need to consider how to move forward in a particular area of life and what we might need to leave behind in another area to support this progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the shift is from fixed signs to cardinal signs, from earth-water to fire-air signs, there is definitely more drive for taking the lead of things and more active energy compared to the past 18-19 months period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rulers of these signs are Mars and Venus and they move through the signs much faster compared to social planets or outer planets. In this regard, even the symbolism is there, with the sign changes of these planets, the energy of the nodes might change, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With North Node being in Aries, there might be this drive, energy and also impatience to go ahead, move, move, move!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With South Node being in Libra, there might be a more compassionate, more balanced approach about the comfort areas or innate skills which we might need to reconsider in terms of harmony, relationships and values that they bring us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
