I don’t know how the curriculum is at the moment, I know that my children are not there yet, but we learnt about equinoxes and solstices during our primary school years. However, it might not be bad to get a reminder from NASA about the meaning of equinox:

“These days, you don’t need your own observatory to know when an equinox occurs, since you’ll see it marked on your calendar twice a year! The word “equinox” originates from Latin, and translates to equal (equi-) night (-nox). But what exactly is an equinox?

An equinox occurs twice every year, in March and September. In 2026, the equinoxes will occur on March 20, at exactly 14:46 UTC (or 7:46 AM EDT), and again on September 23, at 00:05 UTC (or September 22, 2026, at 5:05 PM PDT). The equinox marks the exact moment when the centre of the Sun crosses the plane of our planet’s equator. The day of an equinox, observers at the equator will see the Sun directly overhead at noon. The Sun crosses the equatorial plane again during the September equinox, and continues traveling south until the December solstice, when it heads back north once again. This movement is why some refer to the March equinox as the northward equinox and the September equinox as the southward equinox.”*

While marking autumn equinox, Sun is moving into a place where it doesn’t have as much fun as it does have in Leo or especially in Aries. Why is it in fall? Again from the perspective of Northern Hemisphere, which always bugs me since all the systems mostly explain according to the northern part of the world, the light will start decreasing during this season with the days getting shorter until the shortest day during the winter solstice. In this regard, the mighty Sun is not able to show its all power, seen as much as it is seen in spring or in summer – this part is arguable when you live in Scotland:)))-the hours of demonstration diminish slowly. Sun obviously is not happy about it! However, it doesn’t stop expressing itself in this lovely sign with qualities such as harmonious, balanced, peaceful, diplomatic, artistic, just sometimes over-compromising, and indecisive. It could be about contracts, things related with justice system, and in our body associated with kidneys, bladder, urinary system as well. And as you may know, Libra is ruled by Venus which will be in Scorpio all the way to the end in Libra season as there will be Venus retrograde starting on Oct 3. In this regard, we might feel the impact of Venus and Venus (Rx) (in Scorpio) on this Sun in Libra since Venus will be the dispositor. Good to have a quick reminder about Venus in Scorpio and what it might mean during a transit (I didn’t prepare Venus retrograde article yet so can’t quote that yet!) :

“So, how do we know Venus in Scorpio? What might a Venus transit imply? Venus is thought to be in detriment in Scorpio, not a very comfy place for the symbol of peace, harmony, aesthetics, beauty Venus.

Maybe this Venus transit could be a reflection on how we build up relationships, how we approach love and what kind of value we give to certain things or to certain people. We might be interested in having very strong, stable, in depth connections for which we may be ready to get exposed to vulnerability. It could also be a good period to deep dive into our understanding of values in a certain area of life. If we are involved in any artistic activities, it could be the case that we may feel the need of being guided by our soul, our intuition, our power or where our memory leads us. This might be valid for relationships and values as well. It might be a good period to leave people or certain values that we might have held on for a while in terms of ‘cleaning the skeletons in the cupboard’. Now it might be the time to let them go even though it may be a challenging process for us.”**

As we have the ingress chart at the top with great autumn leaves on it thanks to Canva, let’s have a quick look at it to have a general idea about the starting energy of Libra season, keeping in mind that things will change during the season as it can be seen in the calendar posted above. As the Sun just steps into Libra, the Moon will be half-way in Aquarius. That could be a feeling the need of being detached but involved at the same time. It could be like ‘I want to be a part of a cause, I may do everything in my power to better the society but while working shoulder to shoulder, we don’t need to become friends, attached to each other!” We might enter into this season with this inner energy in a certain area of life. As I will later explain in the interpretation of Full Moon in Aries***there is more dominance of placements in air element followed by placements in water and fire elements without any single placement in earth signs – I told you that leaving Virgo is a mistake:)))) Last joke aside, it might mean that we may need to make more effort for being practical and doing things in a way as grounded as possible. And there will not be any placements in mutable signs which might mean that as we are leading the way and trying to create a continuity within our environment while walking that path, we may not be very comfortable with change of plans or diverting as necessary. In this regard, it might be worth trying to be more flexible and open to different versions within the same story.

Hoping that so far so good, having covered a fair amount of ground, let’s start looking into the first decan of Libra. The decan rulers of this decan are Moon and Venus according to Chaldean/Descending order and Triplicity order respectively. Moon might be related to our needs, sense of security, safety as well as our mothers and inner world, inner voice while Venus could be about the way we relate to other people, what we value, how we can express our artistic side with harmony, balance accompanying us. It’s love, it’s beauty…And with Libra the idea of ‘other people’ becomes quite significant. Their ideas, their values, their understanding of relationships…It might sometimes feel like an overpriced contract as everyone except us seems to get more say, take more importance, carry much more value than ourselves…That the need of being peaceful, is it only for ourselves or for the third parties; partners, friends, whoever on the other side of the relationship? Or we value a harmonious environment but for who and why? Are we aware of it or do we do anything to have more of ‘me’ in these situations? I don’t know how I ended up with so many questions maybe searching for answers for people with placements in the first decan of Libra.

Before coming to the minor arcana card associated with this decan, it might be worth looking into the major arcana card associated with Libra which is Justice card.

Justice card from the Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery deck by Robert M. Place

This photo is from a general reading I have done on Instagram around a month ago. It was the same period when I was sure that this card was following me! It’s true that even though when we might be highly indecisive, we may need to take our virtual scales and make a decision with the intention of impartiality since what is just shouldn’t be carrying the traces of ‘being partial’. On this picture, the sword is already down in the sheath, the scales are in hand. As if we are saying that we are done with fighting, now it could be the time to give our fight with our words, with our ideas always keeping the idea of balance in our minds. Although there is a sense that we might sometimes ask someone else to seek the truth to prevail justice…The knight is armoured but there is more talk than fierce action…The question is how do we decide what is fair, what is true since one may not always make the other valid! More questions from me! This is one of my favourite Justice card and if you would like to reflect on it, I am happy to read about it. I have to add that there is elegance of Libra coming through this card as well. Maybe after Virgo, Venus ruled Libra is needed to clear the air from the order put by Virgo:)))

What about the associated minor arcana card? We will be talking about the 2 of Swords.

The 2 of Swords from the Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery deck by Robert M. Place

I like this card. The wisdom of owl, which could be like the inner voice of the blindfolded person on the same card in RWS deck, may be quite important solving an inner fight that is occurring inside our minds. We are trying to resolve it; both sides raised their swords as if in a duel but that need of keeping peace is telling both of the sides to hold their horses before taking any wrong action or saying something that they wouldn’t be able to take back. We may need to move with diplomacy…This could be happening in any type of relationship rather than in our inner world. The point is that either way the owl is looking at us and telling us to breathe in, to breathe out and to find solution in a friendly way without getting ugly, without hurting each other…Otherwise, the pain, the suffering or regret may follow…But are we able to put the volume down of the voice saying ‘Justice, justice’ or ‘It is not fair, I should still go ahead despite of my wish for peace, for a balanced environment…’ A dilemma…What should we do, how should we decide?

How?

Have a wonderful Libra season.

All the best,

Teri

by Teri Nudelman a.k.a. amethystastrotarot as in Hello from Amethyst! –

*Embracing the Equinox – NASA Science

**

Teri Nudelman

·

9 Sept

Tomorrow, Sep 10, seems to be a day of changes in the sky before the New Moon in Virgo on Sep 11.* How? Let me start with technical points so that we can understand the areas of life that might be impacted, which days we may need to pay attention to more etc. And from there for each change, I continue with the interpretation.

***

Teri Nudelman

·

22 Sept

Full Moon in Aries…

Venus, Mercury changing signs while Uranus
