Pisces is co-ruled by Jupiter and Neptune – I will give information about these planets in terms of astronomy, mythology, and astrology Lastly, I will be touching on the Moon card in Tarot since Pisces is associated with this card.

Before starting, I should mention that Mercury is still retrograding and even though annular Solar eclipse occurred on the 10th of June, we may or will be experiencing the continuing effects of this eclipse in our life in the following months as well, again depending on where it occurred in our charts. As it was with Lunar eclipse, I will not go much further in details but if you have any questions, please send me a message on FB or website and I will answer😊

Pisces: I personally am coming from a family in which we have 3 generations of Pisces as Sun signs on my mother’s side. (You may count me as the 4th since my Moon is in Pisces😊) So, what are the traits of this water element and mutable modality zodiac sign? (Mutable signs tend to be more flexible, able to go more with the flow although other placements in the chart may either strengthen or weaken this definition.) On the positive side, they are sensitive, compassionate, dreamy (if not too much, can be nice to be cut off from reality sometimes), generous but a personality “burdened, vulnerable” as stated by Roy Gillett. (I make this statement every week since I think that it is important. These are general definitions for people that were born with Sun sign as Pisces but the placements in the chart may show us a completely different profile.)

What about Jupiter? In astronomical terms, “Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system with four largest moons (the Galilean Satellites) which are Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. Despite its size, Jupiter has the shortest day of any other planet and A lot like the Sun, Jupiter is mostly composed of hydrogen and helium.” https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/jupiter/in-depth/

One of the first images of Ganymede taken by NASA’s Juno spacecraft during a June 7, 2021, flyby of Jupiter’s giant moon. Credits: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SwRI

When we look at Jupiter in terms of mythology, as some of you may already know, Jupiter is the Roman equivalent of Greek Zeus, and he is the son of Saturn. In simplest explanation, he was the God of the sky. He was “the supreme god. He was Jupiter Elicius – one who brings forth. Jupiter’s most important title was Jupiter Optimus Maximus, meaning the Best and Greatest and signifying his role as father of the gods.” https://www.worldhistory.org/jupiter/

So, in terms of astrology what does Jupiter symbolise as a planet? Jupiter is about expansion, growth, sometimes luck or ‘generosity’ in a natal chart. However, yet again like in case of signs, where Jupiter is placed in our chart may make a huge difference.

Coming to Neptune, like Uranus and Pluto, this planet had a late discovery by Johann Galle in 1846 based on the predictions of Urbain Le Verrier. The interesting fact about Neptune is that it is the ‘windiest’ planet in the solar system and a huge ice giant. Why it is called the blue planet is especially thanks to the methane that causes the red light to be absorbed and “reflects blue light outward”.
https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/neptune/in-depth/

This Voyager 2 image, taken in 1989, was the first to show Neptune’s rings in detail. Credit: NASA/JPL

Neptune; Neptunus, rooted in Latin, nebula meaning ‘moist’. And it is interesting that initially it was thought that Etruscan God Nethuns (wells and all bodies of water) had an inspiration for Neptune, but later it was established that it is the other way around. Having said, that this Roman God, brother of Jupiter, was a minor God until it was started being associated with its Greek counterpart Poseidon and after that it gained much more popularity and emphasis. “Neptune was commonly characterized in myth as a violent, ill-tempered character. Neptune was also viewed by the Romans as a particularly lascivious character…” https://www.etymonline.com/word/neptune https://www.gods-and-goddesses.com/roman/neptune/ https://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/neptune_(mythology)

In terms of astrology, Neptune is associated with imagination, being open to different experiences while it may mean deception, even chaos sometimes. Also, it is important to mention that according to the placement of Neptune, we may see some people that may have professions in ‘visual’ world that has ‘image’ and ‘imagination’ like photography, cinema, or design.

How do we associate these brothers, God of Sky and God of the Sea with Pisces or why are they the co-rulers of Pisces? I will again quote from ‘The Secret Language of Astrology’ by Roy Gillett: “Pisces suggests receptive sensitivity, an empathy moved by ruling Jupiter to spread out in all directions…while as Neptune makes uninterrupted contact with the myriad places…Pisces feels close to the world around it, fascinated by the need to appreciate and care for all.”

What about the Moon card?

*Illustrations from the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck®, known also as the Rider Tarot and the Waite Tarot, reproduced by permission of U.S. Games Systems, Inc., Stamford, CT 06902 USA.
Copyright ©1971 by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. When we think about the general meaning of this Major Arcana card, there is this feeling of things that stayed in the shadow or there may be a bit of self-deception. Is it felt this way since we don’t see things clear because of the dark and lack of light? It may also be that The Moon is giving light but is it really illuminating or real? Probably not as much as desired or needed.

When we analyse the depiction, there is this much calmer water in the front, but behind the bridge arms there is a wavy, crazy sea scene. That is like the tides of the Moon which may remind us Neptune and the sea, the oceans as well; ups and downs, some calm serene ambiance that is conflicted with a much dangerous sea…It is almost like leaving a safe space to explore what is beyond even though there may be the risk on the horizon…Very interesting…In this sense, we may really see very much Neptune and Pisces association, although it is good to mention that Neptune is associated with another card which is the Hanged Man.

Also, the face of the Moon looking down on the card, like the sadness and melancholy that may be associated with Pisces.

Moreover, The Moon card’s number is 18 and it is the Shadow card of the Hermit which is associated with Virgo. So, here we have opposite astrological signs Virgo and Pisces that are associated with one of the birth and shadow card pairs.

I hope that you all enjoyed this week’s blog.
