As a person whose natal chart has been rectified and who knows that there are many people that do not know what their exact birth time is, for me the rectification in astrology carries a lot of importance.
Before looking into the rectification technique, I thought that it might be a good idea to see what ‘rectification’ means and what its origin is.
“c. 1400, rectificacioun, “a remedying, healing, improvement;” late 15c., “action of setting someone right in conduct or action, the correction of that which is wrong or erroneous;” from Old French rectificacion (14c.) or directly from Late Latin rectificationem (nominative rectificatio), noun of action from past participle stem of rectificare “make right; make straight”

So, why do we use rectification in astrology?
Rectification technique in astrology is used for finding the right birth time or the best candidate for the right birth time as our birth time might make a lot of difference in our natal charts especially in case that our Ascendant sign changes.
I know that when I was born, in Turkey it wasn’t that common that the parents would know the exact time of birth as long as they were really attentive about learning it. And I also don’t know if there was a specific recording system at the hospitals in case the birth had occurred at one.
In different parts of the world, in those times or even before there was a better recording system and people already knew their exact birth time.
Even though it might have been written down as a log, it might not sometimes mean that it is the exact time.
It may sound very sceptic but especially when an Ascendant sign is on a degree like (just an example) 29°35′, at the border of next sign, this exact birth time might even need to be rectified to be on the safe side.
Having said that, the rectification is applied in order to find the right Ascendant sign along with the right distribution of the houses in the natal chart which would be the base for the charts and techniques used in forecasting as well.

Without getting into technical details, to rectify a chart requires a one-to-one session with the chart owner after making a preparation with the information received from them beforehand.
If you would like to have rectification, it is important to think about some significant events in your life (at least 3 events) that will be used for the process.
And some astrologers may require photo since Ascendant sign is thought to give an idea about the physical outlook.
There are more details but these are the main things to know in general.
I think that the preparation period along with the session together help us to find a birth time that would be matching the personality and life of the chart owner. A time that will be based on the combination of maths and feeling…I am telling this because even though my chart has been rectified, I still resonate with the natal chart based on the time I knew before the rectification.
I am not an expert in this technique, yet…
However, I am still studying this area of astrology in detail and working hard to get my certificate at the end of October so that I may add ‘rectification’ to my portfolio latest by the beginning of 2023. (we nearly finished the half of the year, so rectification is loading:)))
If you know your exact birth time without doubt, it is easier as we can already start talking about your natal chart and your yearly forecast. For this just contact me via tpastrotarot@gmail.com or www.amethystastrotarot.com.
