Mars in Scorpio / Mars Akrep burcunda (12/10-24/11/2023)

Good evening,

This week the sky is very very busy.

Tomorrow (12/10) at 05:05 UK time Mars will be moving into Scorpio and will stay in this sign until 24/11.

Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio although in modern astrology it is sharing this rulership with Pluto.

Mars is thought to be in detriment in Libra which I have already mentioned that it is not something that I would completely agree with since I have this natal placement and I don’t think so that it is uncomfortable at all, at least for me.

So, we will be talking about a shift from an air sign to a water sign, and from a cardinal energy to fixed energy like from initiating to keeping, holding on to…

With the element shift, it also feels like things might go from logical to emotional…

Mars is about drive, will, action, the urge, bravery, sometimes aggression…Might be symbolising the warrior inside us…The red colour gives this sense of fire, flames, even anger…However, I have to mention that I wouldn’t categorise it as malefic as I wouldn’t categorise Venus and Jupiter as benefic necessarily…

Coming to Scorpio, I would like to quote from ‘Mapping the Psyche’ Volume 1 by Clare Martin:

“As a fixed water sign, Scorpio is like a very deep, dark, still well. The phrase ‘still water runs deep’ is particularly appropriate here because although the surface of the water may be calm, there is always a strong sense of mysterious and unknown and often frightening depths lying below the surface…”

Yes, there might be this calm personality from outside but we may never know what may be happening behind that calmness…Some mystery, some depth…There might also be this intuitive, emotional layer existing within Scorpio…The deep connection especially when the Moon is placed in this sign, a need for deep connection that might cause vulnerability at times…And another interesting fact with Scorpio is that as it may be associated with the serpent shedding the skin, it might also be associated with the phoenix in terms of rebirth…

Coming back to Mars in Scorpio, what might we expect?

I sometimes think of Mars in Scorpio like the energy accumulation in a volcano, if it erupts it might not be the best experience…

On the other hand, it is possible to say that with this transit there might be this courage to go in depth, ready to face whatever that might be going on under the water like an ocean explorer or to go the extra mile along with the will to see what is going on under the skin like a surgeon or the drive to surface what is happening in the depth of our minds like a psychotherapist…(I am not suggesting professions, I just try to give examples of what kind of sense this transit might provide us.)

And I feel that the stillness of Scorpio on the surface may be a good factor for Mars to express itself with more patience…

Looking at the chart of the ingress and keeping in mind that Pluto is the co-ruler of Scorpio, let’s see the moment when Mars moves into Scorpio. (I have mentioned Pluto’s interaction with the current sky in yesterday’s blog/post about Pluto stationing direct).

Mars will be sextile Venus which just moved into Virgo which is a nice energy between values, how we relate and our motivation.

Mars squares Pluto (two co-rulers of Scorpio do not seem to be agreeing much at the moment) which may create some conflict between determination and drives.

As I have mentioned a few days ago, this time in a different sign Mars will have a dissociate conjunction with South Node in Libra and be opposing North Node in Aries which it actually rules. This might mean a connection between our past, comfort zone and what we have courage about…Maybe it is the courage to dive deep into the past relationships or trying to find the balance between unknown/mysterious drives and the urge to go forward alone, just for our own selves…There might be other explanations if we know how these elements interact with our birth charts…

Having said that, as Scorpio is a fixed sign, if you have placements in fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) these placements might be impacted more during this transit. And depending on where Scorpio is placed in our natal charts, that area of life will be affected by this transit.

It is always worth noting that our natal Mars placement, the houses that it rules and how it interacts with the rest of our natal charts need to be taken into consideration to understand the impact of the transiting planets.

I always tell myself that I am going to be brief but I think that this word doesn’t exist in my dictionary. So, this is my way of brief😊))
