Mercury Retrograde in Taurus (21/04-15/05/2023)

Mercury will be stationing for retrograde motion on 21/04 at 09:35 UK time and will move back from 15°37´Taurus until 05°50´Taurus on 15/05/2023. There will be post-shadow period which I sometimes see as ‘after service’ period that will end on 31/05 at the same degree of the start of the retrograde period.
The big news is that as I mentioned on the title of the photo, this Mercury retrograde period will be like saying ‘bye bye’ to retrograde free sky of the last three months.
As I always mention, Mercury retrograde periods happen at least three times per year and they in total on average 6 months so nothing to be scared of. I think that every event happening in the sky should be considered case by case since each of them may have a different impact on our lives which we ‘might’ interpret through our charts.
Mercury is in general terms the planet of communication, ideas, dexterity, trade, short travels…However, we should always keep in mind that in terms of archetypal symbolism there is ‘psychopomp’ quality as much as the trickster one.
In a natal chart, someone that was born during retrograde period (I am not going to elaborate about signs or houses since they need to be considered in relation to the whole life, whole chart of the person.) might have a different way of thinking, may tend to think twice before bringing out and ideas and may have a quite different mindset than other people.
However, when we are referring to transiting Mercury having a retrograde motion it may have a different symbolism. Like all in ‘RE’trograde periods there is a feeling of ‘re’ but in Mercury terms. Since this retrograde will be in Taurus, first things that might come to mind are to ‘re-evaluate our established values’ ‘re-think about our persistent ideas or way of communication’, it might be even to ‘reflect on our dietary habits’. In mundane astrology, as Taurus may be related to food industry or land or even the financial markets (in general terms), we may say that, depending, the nations or the people or the companies might re-evaluate their way of thinking on these particular concepts.
I think that in this regard, it is important to see where Taurus is in our charts (the house – the area of life) between the above-mentioned degrees and how transiting Mercury (Rx) will be interacting with the rest of our charts, meaning what kind of a role it may play in our lives.
As Taurus is a fixed sign, again in these degrees if we have any placements in fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius), this retrograde period may have a more crucial impact on us.
When we look at the chart of Mercury stationing for retrograde motion, it is seen that at the start of the period Mercury will be conjunct Moon and Uranus, sextile Mars and semi-sextile Chiron.
It does seem that we might see sudden changes, some emotional grounding that might be in unity with all this re-evaluation process of this retrograde period. We may also see our emotional drives being quite supportive even though there might be a need of adjustment between our reflections and lessons learnt.
