Turkiye elections 2023 – An astrological brainstorming

Good evening
On 14/05 elections will be held in Türkiye (the name officially changed from Turkey) even though abroad including myself, we already voted at the foreign representation offices.
I have to say that I am not specialised in mundane astrology although I like it a lot since it gives a macro perspective.
And I am not here to tell you who might win the elections.
I am here just to make some comments based on the archetypal symbolism of the planets which may tell us a very well-constructed story without being in need of making concrete predictions.
Only that, I use a different national chart with 29/10/1923 20:45 Ankara time instead of 20:30 since I believe that Turkish public (The Moon) may be expressed better in Cancer rather than in Gemini.
Moreover, 20:45 is the time when Atatürk was declared as the first president of the Republic.
In this regard, some may not agree with this timing but sometimes timing is not about the right time, but it is about the time that feels ‘right’.
I used three charts in relation to the national. Transit chart (the outermost wheel), secondary progressed chart (middle inner wheel) and solar arc directed chart (middle outer wheel). These are forecasting techniques widely used in astrology. In this regard, I wanted to see the bigger picture.
As it is an election and the government is based in Ankara, I took Ankara as basis even though the progressed and solar arc directed charts are based on the national chart.
The last thing is that I took 17:00 as the time of the charts.
That’s the time when the voting closes and in a way the results are sealed, whatever happens is going to happen. If we were sure about the announcement time, it could have been a good time but it is something that we could not predict. The start of the voting process, there is no consensus as the public abroad already voted in different times, in different places.
I wanted to explain the methodology I am following to demonstrate where I am coming from.

I was supposed to write this piece last night but when I sat to go through the charts I saw that with a typo I managed to create a 2013 transit chart instead of a 2023 one. Well, well, well…Later is better than never…
Now time to look at this complex structure to make some analysis. Although the national chart is the basis of everything, unfortunately because of place limitation, I will go directly into the analysis for tomorrow.
In the progressed chart, it is interesting to see that there is a New Moon phase that is in the 8th house. In mundane astrology, 8th house might be associated with national crisis, national debt along with ‘death and rebirth’ of the nation.
I think that the last part of the house association regarding ‘death and rebirth’ is very significant thinking of the New Moon phase which may be interpreted as a new start, putting new seeds into the soil for a new cycle. It is more like an inner projection rather than an outer one thanks to secondary progressions although sometimes we may see the reflections on real events as well.
Again, Moon (the public) being in Pisces in this chart is intriguing especially thinking that the Moon changed sign just in March, from Aquarius to Pisces.
Aquarius is a fixed sign and even though it is a humane sign, there is a detached, unusual part about it. The Sun (the supreme power, authority) is also in Aquarius in both progressed and solar arc directed charts. There is some alienated sense, not like being away from reality but more like standing alone, watching from outside, not really getting mingled, seeing self a bit above the others as well.
So, coming back to Moon in Pisces, there may be a more compassionate, sensitive public and also thanks to the impact of the co-rulers Neptune and Jupiter, ideals and finding ‘meaning’, growth being influential on how the public feels about these elections.
It is also interesting to see MC (how nation wants to be recognised, seen by the outer world, the aspirations of the nation) in Cancer in both the progressed chart and the solar arc directed chart picking up the national chart Moon.
In this regard, when voting people may think what kind of a Turkiye they would like the world to see. Nurturing, caring about each other may be really impactful as the Moon is the ruler of Cancer and it is the ruler of the national chart.
As the Moon is in the 12th house, ancestral lineage might be really important and this voting may be a tribute to the ancestors. The question is who the people define as ancestors, how they relate themselves to the ancestors. It might be really relative.
In the transit chart, the Moon is also in Pisces, this time in the 9th house. Beliefs, philosophies of the public expressed in an emotional manner. There might be a level of sacrifice, feeling victimised as well…
The transiting celestial bodies falling mainly into the 10th house (government, reputation of the country) and Sun being in the 11th house (parliament, community spirit among the people) along with Uranus are really significant.
That energy to go froward, maybe more than ever (Jupiter in the last degree of Aries), the emotional value maybe for a slow and a stable improvement (NN in Taurus – ruled by Venus in Cancer), to reflect on some fixated ideas about the reputation of the country (which is opposing the Sun in the national chart – this may mean that it is not giving up on the supreme power of the time of foundation but finding a middle way, being more flexible, reflecting on the very fixed patterns of that time may be really important to have a better, more grounded life path.) It is good to remember that in the context of 1923, the republic was founded on the basis of revolutions because that time there was no other option under those circumstances. We can see this revolutionary air with Pluto being on the Ascendant in the national chart.
Talking about Pluto, in the transit chart, retrograde Pluto is in the 7th house (the foreign relations, agreements, deals, enemies etc.) and this might give us an idea that the elections may lead to a transformation, a rebirth in terms of foreign relations as well.
Turning back to Sun (ultimate authority) in the 11th house. This might be symbolising the president who might be elected as a result of the public voting, This person may be really someone that may bring stability giving value to the community which might be completely different from the Sun in Aquarius that we see in the last 16 years in the progressed and solar arc directed charts. They are also conflicting energies.
As Taurus is ruled by Venus which is Cancer at the moment, there is a sense of being the guardian, carer of the values, social harmony too.
This Sun will shine into the community spirit among the people.
Uranus which might be uprisal, rising against the status quo, freedom in a structural way may be what this Sun may bring to the society.
It is also worth mentioning that as Turkish republic will be celebrating 100 years, this year is the second Chiron return for the republic. The lessons, vulnerabilities of the past can help to illuminate the future as the Chiron is a mentor and may symbolise ‘bridge’ as well.
Who is this Sun that will be born into the community? Don’t know…
Someone might meet the values of the public, someone that may bring social harmony…
In the transit chart, the rising sign is in Libra and there is definitely something Venusian in this analysis, something linked to the history, to the ancestors, as I said like a tribute…
I am sure that there is more to say. However, I will wrap it up here.
I only wish that whoever is elected may give the caring, nurturing people of Turkiye what they really deserve.
New seed, new cycle, transformation, going against the status quo to re-establish stability seem to be the highlights…
I wish all the best,
Teri
