Virgo – Mercury – Hermit
Dear All,
For those of you who read my last week’s blog, I made an introduction to Signs, Ruler and Associated Tarot cards. https://amethystastrotarot.com/?p=699
This week, I will cover the zodiac sign Virgo – which is my Sun sign😊, the ruling planet of Virgo which is Mercury and the Major Arcana card Hermit that is associated it.
So, when you think of your friends and acquaintances who have Virgo as Sun sign, they are: analytical, practical, efficient, but they may overthink, may be too perfectionist or picky. Overall, as it is an Earth sign, the way that they show their feelings or affection may not be as it may be expected from a Water sign that appears to be more emotional. However, this is the general definition, a Virgo with the rest of the chart filled with different elements, signs, aspects etc. may not show many traces of Virgo as well.
Coming to Mercury (I have mentioned a bit about this planet in my blog about Mercury retrograde); mainly I had written a piece in my Facebook page, so let me repeat:
“Mercury is a chemical element with the symbol Hg and atomic number 80. It is commonly known as quicksilver.” says Wikipedia. No chemistry, I promise I will make the connection now now ‘Quick’silver or ‘Civa gibi’ as it is in a Turkish expression to describe swiftness. Let us see why.
Mercury is the Roman God of commerce; winged feet, mediator sometimes a trickster, as we also see in the Greek counterpart Hermes. And astronomically, it is the smallest, FASTEST, and nearest planet to the Sun. Winged feet Mercury, symbolises some interesting characteristics in Astrology as well. Communication, ideas, swift action, short trips, dexterity, trade…And it is the ruler planet of Zodiac signs Gemini and Virgo. Before coming to Tarot part, a small note about Virgo. I have started reading a book by Barbara Hand Clow called ‘Chiron: Rainbow Bridge Between the Inner and Outer Planets’ after I have written two blogs about this Centaur and it is interesting that she focuses Chiron being the ruler planet of Virgo based on her over 500 chart interpretations. As I have written in my Twitter account, I may consider Chiron -at least for the moment since I did not finish the book yet- as a co-ruler for Virgo but I may not accept the fact that Mercury is no more my Sun sign’s ruler.
Tarot card Hermit:
When we look at the Hermit card in the Major Arcana in RW Tarot deck, which is associated with Virgo and Earth element, we see a hermit that is trying to show the way with the light coming out of his torchlight. Generally, Hermit may show that for some reason, you may choose to go into isolation, reflect upon yourself, learn from your lessons and return after you get healed and ready to integrate back into the society with your lessons learnt. Normally, these card associations are made according to Golden Dawn (was a secret society devoted to the study and practice of the occult, metaphysics, and paranormal activities during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermetic_Order_of_the_Golden_Dawn)

However, I will try to give my opinion why Virgo and Hermit may be a match. I think it is more like being a guide to other people with the lessons you learnt. That reflecting period and getting the messages, in a way goes very well with the analytical approach a Virgo may function. There is a problem, why it happened, how it happened, what solutions we may have and now time to share this information with other people. We may think that this process may be at an emotional level as well, but the approach will stay the same. This is my interpretation of this Virgo-Hermit relation but there may be always other or different views.

Next week, as we just went into Aries season (In Chiron blogs, I had explained Aries) I may write about Aries – Mars and The Emperor as long as I don’t have a change of heart (luckily I know many Capricorns, I may go with that option as well) We will see🧐
Stay well and keep safe until next week,
Teri
