Mercury moving into Scorpio…
Not being very enthusiastic about a short stay! Why not?
On Sep 30, 2026 Mercury will be moving into fixed, water sign Scorpio but it will only start its journey in Sagittarius on Dec 6, 2026 due to the upcoming retrograde period. That will be the last one for this year and yet again in a water sign as in the previous two retrograde periods. Retrograde article for Mercury and Venus will come later.
Mercury, swift Mercury…As fast as it is, known to be the trickster, and also the psychopomp. I had written about psychopomp around 5 or 6 years ago – I should check the exact date- when I was deep diving into the Magician card. A lot of qualities for my ‘sweet’ Mercury. I am mostly intrigued by Chiron but Mercury is probably my favourite though I don’t know if I would like to be unfair to the rest of the planets since they all come with their own characteristics into the stage; performing different roles, in different places, sometimes in the same ones, next to each other…
I believe that during Mercury transits while jumping from one sign to another, we may realise that there could be a shift in how we talk, how we express our ideas, how we communicate or come up with ideas in a certain area of life. Mercury could be related to siblings, short distance travels, traditionally astrology and technology as well.
When Mercury starts its journey in Scorpio, there might be a sense of moving our thoughts from the blue blue sky to the depth of the ocean…Nothing shallow, everything with a sense of depth…But at the same time when we are swimming towards the Hadal zone in our minds, meanwhile lots of ideas are forming, we might also be finding mysteries to be taken back to the surface after that deep dive so nothing stays in the dark, everything sees the daylight whether positive or not…It’s sometimes like the urge or our inner voice whispering us to dig deep, that hunch coming along with an obsession to find out and communicate it to the people so they also know what we know, they also sense what we sense…There could also be a thinking process that would awaken our buried memories and appear as new, fresh or recycled ideas. Memories…I also believe that the words carry power as they might sometimes literally and completely change the way we look at things, how we perceive them. In this regard, when Mercury is taking a stroll through the deep waters of Scorpio, it might be worth being aware of the weight our words may be carrying…It’s not a joke; it’s powerful, piercing through…Sometimes during the skin shedding process, it’s very possible that we can’t give up, we just continue since we might be thinking that it’s the only way. We may believe that if we change anything, everything might go into shambles. However, to make an impact with the ideas or the words or the stanzas coming from the depth of our souls, sometimes alteration might be necessary…It’s in a way using the courage coming through Mars, the traditional ruler of Scorpio and dispositor of Mercury in Scorpio. It’s worth remembering that during the most of Mercury in Scorpio transit, both direct and retrograde, Mars will be in Leo* and we might feel this energy on our thoughts, on our way of communication.
As Scorpio is a fixed sign, if we have natal placements in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, the impact of this transit might be higher in our lives. It’s worth mentioning that the trailers period for Mercury retrograde will already start on Oct 4. I like calling this period as trailers since we might already start understanding what may be ahead of us in the retrograde period if we can call Mercury retrograde as ‘the movie’. For me the order is trailers – movie – critiques after the movie:)))
I probably wrote or talked about Mercury in Scorpio many times in the past but this time with the help of water series surfacing different qualities of ‘water’ signs, at least for me, I decided to write this way under the Taurus Moon illuminating the night sky in its exaltation degree.
There is always more to add, more to write…
All the best,
Teri
