Scorpio-Mars-Pluto-Death card
I hope you all liked reading last week’s blog about Aries-Mars-The Emperor. For the ones who missed it here comes the link: https://amethystastrotarot.com/?p=743
This week I would like to cover the zodiac sign Scorpio and the Tarot card associated with it, Death (do not get creeps please, none of the Tarot cards deserve to be frowned upon and yet again, we are not talking about a physical death, so no worries..)
The ruling planets of Scorpio are Mars and Pluto. (the last week’s blog has the information about Mars and the following link https://amethystastrotarot.com/?p=624 has information about Pluto)
As I will not go into the details of Mars and Pluto again, let me explain what Scorpio means in terms of astrology.

I know that when some hear the sign Scorpio and thinking of its association with the scorpion, they already get negative vibes. However, as in nature, scorpion would not sting out of the blue, and neither does the zodiac sign Scorpio react the same…
As a general definition, Scorpio is a sign that may be really insightful, brave, deep with their emotions, mostly secretive (the Scorpio people may look very calm and cool from outside, even though when volcanos may be exploding inside them) while it may become vengeful and sometimes even “possessive” on the negative side. (It is important to remember that -I know this part I repeat all the time- this is a general definition, the placements in your chart may give us a complete different picture even though your Sun sign may be Scorpio.)
So, how is Scorpio connected to Mars and Pluto? While their fearless act comes from the expression of God of War, their depth and mysterious sides come from the God of underworld. Some may not agree Pluto being the co-ruler of Scorpio, but the hidden, mysterious side of Scorpio may be a confirmation to the contrary.
What about astronomy? “Scorpius the Scorpion – the southernmost constellation of the Zodiac – is a major showpiece of the starry sky. This J-shaped assemblage of stars actually looks like its namesake” And you may have a good view of it during the evening; for Northern Hemisphere, the best times may be July and August.

Now, it is time for Tarot. The Death card normally means to end things, to let things go, since it is necessary to do so. In a way, we let things go away, fade or die so that we can continue our path without carrying the burden of the things we left behind. In this sense, how is it related with the sign Scorpio? I will quote from Gillett’s book and explain it accordingly: “The sign teaches the lesson of regeneration: it is through death that life springs up, just as rotting plants provide compost for new ones”. This is what is exactly about the Death card, regeneration. As this card suggests, in life we need to finish one phase to start the other phase like the circle of life, we are born, we live, we serve our purpose of being in the world and the day comes to have an end…Actually, for some people our body dies, completes its journey but the Soul continues…
