Aquarius-Saturn-Uranus-The Star card
You may be saying: “Teri, come on, Lunar eclipse on the 26th of May and a Solar Eclipse is coming on the 10th of June, and you are not writing about them?”
Nope! I think that there is a lot of good content online explaining the impact of these eclipses (Of course, I am more than happy to answer your questions in case you would like to learn more about).
So, this week we will talk about Aquarius, the 11th sign of the zodiac with air element and it is a fixed sign. And the co-rulers of this sign are Saturn and Uranus and the Tarot card that is associated with it is the Star.
Let’s start with a mythological story about the constellation Aquarius. I have written about it in my Facebook page in the past “Ganymede was the Trojan prince who was abducted by Zeus to be his cup bearer (like in water bearer) according to the myth. For abducting, Zeus had turned himself into an eagle. So, the relation with Aquarius constellation is as follows: “the supreme god was said to have placed the likeness of Ganymede in the stars as the constellation Aquarius; Aquarius being just below the constellation of the abducting eagle, Aquila, in the night sky.” https://www.greeklegendsandmyths.com/ganymede.html

Now let us have a look what Aquarius means in astrological terms. Our ‘water bearer’ is an interesting sign, because on one hand there is a very humane, loving side while you may see a bit ‘arrogant’ ‘self-righteous’ side, too – as Roy Gillett suggests in his book ‘The Secret Language of Astrology’. In a way, sometimes you may see an Aquarius really devoting themselves or volunteering for a certain cause maybe with a group of people, but they may want this cause to be led in ‘their way’. They may be fighting for ‘equality’ for all too. We must mention that they may be ahead of their time, innovative with their ideas or actions as well. As I always say, this is a general definition for Aquarius sign but the placements in a natal chart of Aquarius sign may change the equilibrium.
What about Saturn and Uranus? I have talked about Saturn in the past weeks which you may find in the following link https://amethystastrotarot.com/?p=721
Uranus…In astronomical terms, in mythology and in astrology there is really something ‘eccentric’ about this ‘Ice giant’ planet.

As Nasa suggests “Uranus is about four times wider than Earth; it is an ice giant and has 27 known moons, and they are named after characters from the works of William Shakespeare and Alexander Pope.” https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/uranus/in-depth/
What about the mythology of Uranus? “OURANOS (Uranus) was the primordial god (protogenos) of the sky…Ouranos was the literal sky, just as his consort Gaia (Gaea) was the earth. Kronos (Cronus) (Roman deity – Saturn), took his place in the centre and there castrated Ouranos with an adamantine sickle.” https://www.theoi.com/Protogenos/Ouranos.html
When it comes to astrology, Uranus is considered as one of the ‘Outer Planets’ which are the gas giants and much farther away compared to the other planets. Also, they are slow moving planets and represent generational traits since they stay long time in a certain sign as in the case of Uranus – 7 years on average in a sign. But what is the expression of Uranus? Eccentricity, technology, innovation, revolutionary ideas as well.
So, why is Aquarius co-ruled by Saturn and Uranus? Again, as Gillett suggests “Uranus working through the sign’s joint ruler, Saturn, means Aquarius offers revolutionary challenges to the secure conservative structures created in Capricorn.” So, in a way there is a synergy of old and new, structure and revolution, hard work put on progress…
Finally, the ‘Star’ card. In general, there is a positive energy with this card, in the depiction we see a water bearer as well and the meaning is more like reaching your dreams even it may be in a slower pace but sometimes those dreams may fall so far away that will they be accessible? Maybe yes, maybe no…

When I was thinking about the association between Aquarius and the Star card, I felt that the connection lies more on the depiction rather than the actual meaning of the card. First of all, there is the water bearer symbolism which is Aquarius. There is number 17 which is 1+7=8 Saturnian energy which is one of the co-ruler planets of Aquarius. And I don’t know if I am reading into that too much but when the water is poured with both hands, the right hand one goes into the water and the other goes on the ground. The first part goes well with the humane Aquarius giving out to the community, having a share but the left hand action is more like still making things flourish that will end up in the main water but from a different perspective maybe the eccentricity and also the independent trait that is expressed with Uranus in Aquarius…
