Cancer-Moon-The Chariot
This week, we are going back to the zodiac signs and Tarot cards associations.
So, the zodiac sign of the week is Cancer, ruled by Moon and the associated card is the Chariot.
The Moon…I have talked about the Moon in one of my recent blogs https://amethystastrotarot.com/?p=615 So, I will just put a short astronomical definition and let you all go back to the above mentioned blog.
The ‘Moon’ is “the only natural satellite of the planet Earth and the fifth largest moon in the solar system.” https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/moons/earths-moon/overview/
What about the Cancer?
It is the 5th sign of the zodiac, its element is water and it is a cardinal sign. Cancer person may be nurturing, caring, intuitive but may be over-caring, anxious from time to time. One point I found interesting in Roy Gillett’s book is that ‘when the Cancerian people feel threatened, they may “close up” or “lash out pre-emptively” like hiding away’ instead of confronting it head on – so acting like a crab going sideways. This resonated as he mentions sometimes someone that is overprotective may attack to secure or to keep what they have. In this regard, it may seem that depending on the situation, a Cancerian may behave either way. Also, taking into consideration the cardinal quality, we may say that there should be a level of initiation, taking the lead of things as well. (Yet again this is a general definition, it does not mean that every Cancer Sun may behave this way based on their placements in their natal chart.)
In this regard, Moon may find a good expression in this taking care, nurturing figure of the Cancer.

However, the question is how do we associate Cancer and the Chariot together? I think in the Chariot card we may see more the cardinal quality of Cancer, in which the emotional quality of this water sign is kept under control to keep the reins of the Chariot. So, in a way The Chariot and Cancer may be associated by ‘taking the lead of things and run them as long as the emotions can be kept under control without shadowing the reasoning that may bring the real success.’
